Here are a few of the lovely charities that we support where we can...
Sweet Freedom supports The Orangutan Project
Here at Sweet Freedom we’re wild about animals… do our labels give that away?! We believe in sanctuary for all animals and support the preservation of the rainforest. We have chosen a new friend to celebrate our support, in the guise of Ollie – the Sweet Freedom Orangutan. You can find him on our new limited edition Chocolate Spread pots in Iceland stores now. We donate 10% of the profits on each pot to The Orangutan Project who are dedicated to saving Borneo's critically endangered orangutans and their habitats. The clearing of Borneo's jungles for palm oil plantations is devastating for these gentle creatures so we have taken a stand and DO NOT use palm oil in any Sweet Freedom products.
To find out more please visit The Orangutan Project and support them in their dedicated work to help these wonderful animals.
Meat Free Monday
We love Meat Free Monday and the pioneering work of the McCartney family to reduce meat consumption. For our health, our environment and our future, it is an exciting time of changing consciousness that we wholeheartedly support.

In 2013, female orangutan Sam was rescued from appalling conditions in a Malaysian zoo. Little Cupcake (a surprise addition) was born in June 2015 and Sam has been a devoted and attentive mother. Cupcake is an active, cheeky and adventurous little boy! The pair are working towards freedom and a new life, by learning the skills they'll need for independence and survival in the wild.
We're delighted to have adopted Sam and Cupcake!
If you'd like to do the same please visit The Orangutan Project and support them in their dedicated work to help these wonderful animals
Evie Toombes - National Para-Rider
The delightful Evie Toombes met the Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently before receiving the Inspirational Young Person award at the WellChild ceremony. Appearing on ITV news with Alistair Stewart, Evie said the Duke and Duchess had taken an interest in the children's book she has written about disability. She also added 'It was also wonderful because we got to meet them and they had so much time for everyone. They spoke to every single one of the award winners, so it was fantastic to do that.'
Evie was born with spina bifida and more recently has developed gastroparesis, yet despite these challenges rather than any trace of self-pity she competes as a National Para rider (show jumping). Evie's health is currently impossible to safely manage away from home due to all the daily procedures required hence the idea to raise funds to purchase a specially adapted medical facility/horsebox. We have been touched by Evie’s bravery and positive attitude and have recently donated £1k towards this which will enable her to cope with her paralysed stomach, bladder/bowel & lower leg issues wherever she travels.
Here at Sweet Freedom we love Macmillan and their amazing cancer support work. We try to help by donating our Fruit Syrup, Choc Shot and Choc Pot for their annual fundraiser The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning which is Macmillian’s largest fundraising event and earns millions each year. Last year they earned an impressive £26 million which goes towards helping Macmillian continue to provide life changing support to people living with or affected by cancer.

The Magical Taxi Tour
The Magical Taxi Tour is a wonderful charity whose mission is to give sick children a three-day break from therapy and treatment in Disneyland Resort Paris. The kids are transported in a convoy of London taxis and the families would not be able to undertake such a trip alone, without the medical support the London Ambulance Service (plus many others). We were thrilled to be a sponsor this year, and Co-founder Deborah's husband was the volunteer driver (great job Gary!)
Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) Children's Charity
We were delighted to support Great Ormond Street Charity’s triathlon event on Saturday 4 August by providing our Sweet Freedom Choc Shake Caramel and Choc Shake Banana. £60,000 was raised in which over 150 triathletes took part in the day’s event. GOSH teamed up with AJ Bell and Gordon & Tara Ramsay for this campaign.
We’ve been supplying some Choc Shot for Appledown’s fundraising efforts. They re-home stray dogs from all around the Bedfordshire area. Appledown provides the dogs with food, shelter, medical help, care and love until the right new owner can be found. They always have 40-50 dogs in their care, and with dog abandonment, neglect and sadly abuse on the rise, everyday costs but especially vet costs are several thousand pounds each month.
Appledown home a large proportion of unclaimed stray dogs
Dogs Trust - Honey
Meet Honey our gorgeous new Dogs Trust sponsor dog! Why not welcome a dog into your life - even if not physically as they stay at the Dogs Trust because they need special care and attention. You'll receive a special photo certificate of your new pal, a wallet-sized sponsor's card, a window sticker and a fridge magnet with three updates a year from your friend, so you can hear how you're making your doggy friend's life great. You can also sponsor a dog for someone else too... a great gift for any dog-loving friend!
We were very proud to support the NSPCC’s Great British Chefs Dinner event on 5th December by providing our Sweet Freedom Choc Pots. With the £210,000 raised on the night the NSPCC will be able to reach over 70,000 primary school children with their Speak Out. Stay Safe. programme giving them the knowledge needed to protect themselves from all forms of abuse. By making children aware of what abuse and neglect are, and what the signs might be, this important campaign can help to protect a generation of children.
Great Ormond Street Hospital had 400 supporters taking part in this year’s London Triathlon with Gordon Ramsay on 22nd July to help raise much needed funds for this wonderful charity. They asked if we would supply our Sweet Freedom Choc Pot as a well-deserved treat for their goody bags to take home and of course we were very happy to oblige!
We were thrilled to support Dr Carys Bennett and Food for a Future at Glastonbury Festival this year by providing free Sweet Freedom product samples. Fantastic weather, amazing food demos and sampling made for some very happy festival goers and dipping apple slices in Choc Pot was a fave it seems! Food for a Future reached out to 200k people regarding healthy and ethical vegan food choices.
We all love animals at Sweet Freedom and have just sponsored the lovely Cheeky and Lollipop, two delightful doggies at the amazing Dogs Trust charity. Last year they cared for nearly 17,000 dogs and rely solely on donations from the public to continue their valuable work. They never destroy healthy animals and care for them until they are able to find a new family or give them permanent homes if they are not able to be rehomed. We’re looking forward to receiving our updates on Cheeky and Lollipop! Check out which doggies you can sponsor here. Help stop puppy smuggling here.
We were thrilled to support Breast Cancer Care with their Pink Ribbon Walk by providing Choc Shot at the finish line. Breast Cancer Care combines the personal experiences of people affected by breast cancer with clinical expertise to provide information on living with, and beyond breast cancer, offering both emotional and practical support and a Helpline to bring people affected by breast cancer together.
The Ultimate News Quiz in aid of Restless Development and Action for Children
Founded in 2007 by BBC presenter Martha Kearney and Restless Development’s patron Baroness Anne Jenkin, the Ultimate News Quiz is one of London's most popular annual charity events raising funds for two charities. Restless Development works with young people in South Asia and Africa to train, educate and inspire them to lead development in their countries; Action for Children support and speak out for the UK's most vulnerable and neglected children. We are proud to be able to support in a small way by donating Choc Shot for the attendees luxury goody bags.
A week of events raising funds for and awareness of breast cancer. Charities include Breast Cancer Care, Hello Beautiful & The Haven. Last year Pink Week raised an amazing £24,000 and this year the organisers hope to raise even more! We donated over 6000 of our delish bottles of Choc Shot to help Olivia (herself a student and 22 year old cancer survivor) with her brilliant and inspiring fundraising efforts.
Blind Veterans UK believe that no one who has served their country should battle blindness alone. They offer help with lifelong practical and emotional support for Armed Forces and National Service veterans helping them recover their independence and have a good quality of life beyond sight loss. The 100k challenge is an annual walk from London to Brighton! Congratulations to all the amazing finishers, we hope you enjoyed your Choc Shot!
We sent lots of Choc Shot to the lovely people at Mornflake to drizzle over this amazing cake to raise money for Macmillan. The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s main fundraising event for people facing cancer. Last year alone they raised a staggering £25 million. We also donated lots of our fabulous Fruit Syrup to our own Macmillan coffee morning here in Victoria, London.
A non-profit fundraising organisation that works hard to raise funds for continuing research into finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes, specifically the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) who are pioneering research into a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Since 2007 the main event in the Pop 4 Diabetes calendar has been the 'Pop 4 Diabetes Annual Ball' which started at the Haven Hotel in Sandbanks. We are proud to have helped them with their fundraising efforts.
